Six String Ink

It is what it is. For now.

inkTunes: Trailer Bride

Here’s a cool tune to start the weekend… if you dig the baritone guitar and a beautiful woman playing the saw.
Southern, and we mean Southern, to their core, Trailer Bride can hypnotize with their songs of sex, death, sin and redemption, or, if that fails, they can bring the house down with their wicked slide-guitar mojo abandon. They come from a land full of snakes, ticks, chiggers, dangerous, stultifying heat and humidity.

inkTunes: Johnny Clegg

One of the highlights of my journalism career was interviewing Johnny Clegg — twice, actually — back in the early 1990s, and then seeing him and Savuka at Toad’s Place in New Haven.

It was a bittersweet time, and when things look bad, I try to draw some peace and inspiration from those memories. This one’s for my friend Lisa, who introduced me to Clegg’s music.

inkTunes: Coolest Dude Alive

I look forward to the “music club” at one of my favorite blog stops, Crooks & Liars (and, oh, good gawd almighty, please baby please, check this out). So much so that, in the spirit of the old saw about the connection between imitation and flattery, I figured I might as well rip off the concept.

Was listening to this on the way home tonight: I cried for you. Now it’s your turn, you can cry awhile.
